The photo contest “Ireland through the Eyes of Ukrainians”: Winners announced!

Події

The exhibition “Ireland through the Eyes of Ukrainians”, which served as the culmination of the eponymous photo contest, ceremoniously opened at the Cavan library and will be on display there until February 24.

A knowledgeable Irish jury witnessed firsthand that the Ukrainian perspective on the Emerald Isle is remarkably poetic, colorful, and diverse.

Four experts were invited to judge the entries Joe Keenan (Art Council), Clare Willis (Cavan Volunteer Centre), Robert Voskar (Managing Director, RV Design), Seamus Enright (The Anglo Celt). Jury members selected one photo to their taste, and the photographer of that picture was recognized as the winner.

Among the 40 finalists of the photo contest, the winners are:

  • Maksym Bondarenko, Tullamore

Photo: “Where the World Ends”, Dunmore Head

  • Oleksandra Rudik, Bray, Co. Wicklow

Photo: “Flight over a Dream”

  • Olena Savchenko, Lisdoonvarna, Co. Clare

Congratulations to the winners! We thank all the participants for their love for Ireland, which is felt through the photographs. We remind you that the winning photos will be printed in the Anglo-Celt newspaper.

In total, 107 authors participated in the photo contest, offering their creative perspectives and immense admiration for Ireland.

We extend our gratitude to our guests who attended the opening and expressed words of support, namely: Councillor Philip Brady, Cavan County Council; representatives of the Cavan Library, Pauline McDonald Smith; Chairperson of the Parliamentary Party, Chair of the British Irish Parliamentary Assembly, and TD for Cavan-Monaghan, Brendan Smith; Cathedral of Saint Patrick and Saint Felim Priest, Kevin Fay; CEO of Cavan County Local Development, Terry Hyland; Chairman of the Association of Ukrainians in the Republic of Ireland, Sergiy Balan.

Friendly Ireland wholeheartedly supports our country in times of hardship. Through this photo contest, Ukrainians in Ireland express deep gratitude for the opportunity to see the world in the colors of peace, with a sense of tranquility and development prospects. We aspire to be not only a reliable and strong support for Ukraine but also a worthy partner for Ireland.
