June 28 in Ukraine marks one of the most important holidays of the state – Constitution Day.

The Ukrainian community in Galway did not stay aside and also celebrated this holiday gloriously. Preparations for Constitution Day continued in advance. Ukrainian housewives prepared national dishes. First of all, it is the world-famous Ukrainian borsch with sour cream and donuts. Lard and onion were also added to the borscht. Those interested could also taste pancakes with honey and jam.

Masterclasses on making motanka dolls, origami, aqua make-up, spikelets for girls, art therapy were organized for visitors. Everyone could play chess with the representative of the youth national chess team of Ukraine Marina Petrenko and her equally experienced sister Irina Petrenko, try yourself in a master class in salsa and take part in a wonderful quest dedicated to Constitution Day.

The highlight of the holiday was the performance of the Ukrainian group – ethnic folk group – “Divina”. Native music, and nightingale language penetrated the souls and hearts of Ukrainians, caused a sea of positive emotions.

The Deputy Mayor of Galway addressed the Ukrainians with a welcoming speech. The main call for congratulations was the wish of peace to Ukraine and words of unity and support of the Ukrainian people by all citizens of Ireland.

At the end of the holiday, there was a raffle of valuable gifts, a performance by a singer from Odesa Natalia Klochko and a driving mix of Ukrainian songs from the Irish disc jockey.

We are sincerely grateful to the authorities of Galway for the opportunity and support in holding the celebration of Constitution Day.

Thank you to the team of volunteers and everyone who joined our celebration!

Glory to Ukraine!
