Volunteer Center in Cavan

Events

On November 7, 2022, Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys launched the Cavan Volunteer Centre. This event marked the official opening of the Centre’s mission to promote the range and quality of volunteering in County Cavan. As Minister Heather Humphreys noted, this project will act as a hub for the almost 900 volunteers across the county.

The Cavan Volunteer Centre Board and Management Team, local Volunteer Involving Organisations, and Ukrainians interested in the Cavan county volunteer movement, joined the celebration.

Sergiy Balan, representative of The Association of Ukrainians in Republic Ireland (AURI), spoke about the activities and tasks of the AURI. Sergiy Balan noted that volunteering is a very important part of society’s life. And volunteering itself can be the key to successful unifying of Ukrainians and their easy integration into Irish society.

Mr. Balan also invited those present to the opening of the Ukrainian Development Center, within which the Ukrainian Saturday School will work. The opening will take place on November 12, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Terry Coyle Park, Cavan.

We express our sincere gratitude from the entire Ukrainian community to Heather Humphreys, Cavan Volunteer Center, Vanda Brady and the whole team for developing and supporting the volunteer movement in Ireland, helping Ukrainians integrate into Irish society and feel at home, despite this difficult time.
