Classical Music Concert in Cavan: where music, art and charity come together

Події

On October 1, 2023, Ukrainians and Irish living in Cavan gathered to listen to magical works performed classically by Ukrainian professional artists, and to do a good deed – to raise funds to help our fellow countrymen in Ukraine.

The charity concert of classical music was dedicated to the Day of Defenders and Defenders of Ukraine, the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the International Day of Music and was held in the Cathedral of St. Patrick and  St. Felim.

The cozy atmosphere of the Cathedral, the sound of instruments and the amazing voices of artists under its dome, sunny weather and the supportive smiles of everyone filled this day with special meaning.

A concert of singing the anthems of Ireland and Ukraine began. Further, works of foreign classics and Ukrainian folk songs in adaptation were performed by Ukrainian opera singers. The concert audience enjoyed the sound of the piano, flute, bandura, and violin.

We sincerely thank the talented artists who gave incredible emotions to everyone present: Olena Topolskaya, the team of the Ershov Sisters, Olga Doroshchuk, Olena Kolesnik, Milana Ruslana, Natalia Feshchenko, Victoria Zhadko.

As part of the event, there was a presentation of the Calendar for 2024 with the best photographs of Ukrainians against the backdrop of beautiful Irish landscapes, which was prepared by volunteers of the Association of Ukrainians in the Republic of Ireland (AURI) from County Wicklow.

There was also an exhibition and charity sale of paintings by local Ukrainian artists of the Ukrainian Development Center from Cavan, Belturbet and Blacklion, and a home baking fair from activists Oksana Galaiko, Natalia Smeshko, Yulia Malitsko, Katerina Ventskovskaya and Natalia Malitsko and a team of volunteers Nadia Molenda, Olga Dowd, Nadia Mishchenko and Olena Zakharova. Victoria Voitsekhovskaya joined the charity fundraiser with delicious food from her own small business – pizza in a van.

The concert took place thanks to the efforts and fruitful cooperation of the Association of Ukrainians in the Republic of Ireland and Cavan County Local Development.

All funds raised will be used to purchase an ambulance, which will be transferred to Ukraine. We sincerely thank everyone who attended the concert and joined this noble cause! After all, together we have already been able to donate 42 ambulances to Ukraine, jeeps for evacuating the wounded, more than 100 generators, and most recently Cavan General Hospital donated a large 600-kilowatt generator.

Take your time and watch the concert, the recording of which is available at the link.

We sincerely invite all Ukrainians to follow the events of the AURI team and come to events where we can unite, communicate and do good deeds.
